Latest information

1) The WINNERS of the 50/50 Raffle were Don and Nina Williams of Peralta Avenue!!! Congratulations to them -- they won $1,491.00.

2) The Silent Auction was stopped because of the FIRE on Posada! Since some were not present, I am sure you are not aware. Becky Claycomb, our Focus Group Leader, has called an
emergency meeting tonight to find out how best to handle the Silent Auction Items and when we will proceed. We will keep you posted.

3) The FIRE was at 1007 Posada at Monette and Kelly's home and started at about 7:00 pm Saturday night while our Pig Out at the Park was going on. Monette and Kelly and their baby, Avalon were present at the park as well as her mother and grandmother. This will be the BEST place to find out particulars. We will keep you updated as things progress. Kelly or Monette are on the website almost daily.

Their losses are tremendous, although they are all safe!! Blessings for that! The fire started in their office and looks to be electrical at this time. It did remain mostly contained in the one room, however the smoke damage was incredible. Their entire home will have to be "remade" and it looks as if it will probably be six months at least by the time they are able to move back in.

Even though "life goes on" it will not go on as smoothly for quite some time. This means extra expenses no matter how you look at it and no matter how "good" your insurance is. There are many things insurance simply cannot/does not cover. Keep them in your prayers.

This is the latest information available to me. They will be living with her parents only temporarily until accommodations are provided for them by their insurance company.

Count Christal and I in. We would support giving the raffle money to them.

Donate the sign proceeds!

I have an idea. Why don't we donate the 50/50 raffle proceeds to Kelly & Monette. We can raise sign money some other way. Rather than trying to devise some other money-raising scheme, we can simply donate money that has already been collected. Although signage is important, it hardly seems as pressing as the need this family faces. I would fully support such a plan and I hope that many of you would as well.

Another Option - Focus Group

Having just returned from this evening's focus group meeting (to which everyone was was invitied) I want to share the outcome of that meeting.

It was decided that so many people worked very hard for those signs, and so many people donated to the sign fund, that the money will go to where it was originally planned. The signs are for the benefit of the ENTIRE neighborhood, and display our pride in a way that becomes all of us.

Alternate ideas for helping Kelly and his family were discussed, including possible individual monetary donations and gift certificates from somplace such as Target, K-mart, etc.. for household needs.

At this point, we are waiting to hear from Kelly and Monette about what thier needs will be after they complete the insurance adjustment phase.

If you would like to contribute more ideas, please post them here.
