Is anyone else as bothered by the sheer volume of people that hit our neighborhoold ''begging'' for treats last night? We had 7 large bags of Snickers and we ran out at 7:45. I am particulary upset with the herd of 14 to 15 year old girls, not in costume, who did not speak English that came to our door. I asked them where they lived and they looked at me like I was from Mars. One of them did not even bother to get off her cell phene. The topper of this bunch was the girl who was carrying her BABY. I thought it was a doll at first.
We need to come up with something next year so that our kids, especially the little ones, get the candy that was bought for them.
That is what bothers me most.

AMEN!
We were not here for this Halloween, but rather at our granddaughters first real trick or treat night out.
BUT - last year, we noticed the same thing - a lot of older kids whom we did not recognize coming in groups.
Perhaps, we, as a community should set a time period -- say from dark until 7 or 7:30 when we will be giving out treats. Then, turn our lights out.
Usually by that time all the smaller children have come and gone. It is not that I have anything against the older children - I don't but when they are not from our neighborhood and come in droves, carrying babies and cell phones - that is TIME to STOP! I feel sure many of our residents feel the same way.
Help me remember to put something in the newsletter and send out an email next year in plenty of time for our kids to know what is planned.

Amen (x2)
I have a 6 year old and 15 year old and we are residents of Marborough Mesa. I have to agree with you. It's ridiculous that our neighborhood over the past couple of Halloweens has become a victim to the carloads of dropped off kids coming from other parts of town to take what is meant for our neighborhood children. These are also probably the same people that did not halt to the baracades on Portabello this year and decided to drive down the middle of the street. What fool would do that knowing we block it off for the safety of our children? Obviously not a resident I would hope.

TIME TO STOP
I THINK 8:OO IS A NICE TIME TO STOP. I ALSO THINK IF WE DONT GIVE OUT CANDY TO THE KIDS WHO DONT EVEN PUT OUT THE EFORT TO DRESS UP , THIS WILL TAKE A FEW YEARS TO STOP BUT IF WE DONT GIVE IN TI WILL STOP.
