One of our neighbors recently expereienced a back-up issue at his garbage disposal.  In investigating the cause of the problem, he asked me to post a message advising others to be careful about what we put down the disposal.  For instance, coffee grinds, egg shells and starchy foods can eventaully lead to a problem.  And, most importantly, do not put grease/lard/shortening products down into the system.  Instead, keep a container with a lid into which you can pour the used product and then put it in the trash.

The garbage disposal the came with the condo is the lowest powered model that can be purchased. I upgraded mine to 1/3 hoursepower and it makes a huge difference.
