Pool Guest Rule Too Aggressive

Posted in: McIntyre Matters
It is one thing to want to want to protect our homeowers' right to use our pool and it is another when the rules make using the pool undesireable.

Homeowners should only need to be 18 years old in order to bring a guest to the pool. Using the age of 21 is simply a cover up of another problem that needs to be addressed.

The root cause here is that rule number 5, disruptive behavior, is not being enforced. When I questioned the reasoning of the 21 rule, I was told by pool staff that too many 'hoods' were coming into the pool. If you have to many bothersome people, then step up and enforce rule 5, instead of making it impossible for our adults, ages 18-20, to bring a friend to the pool.

The solution is plain and simple; enforce rule 5 and allow our homeowners to enjoy the pool and bring a guest or two as they wish.

I'm planning on collecting signatures to have the age changed to 18 for signing in a guest. Please let me know if you'd be willing to sign. I'll stop by.

Thanks, Carrie

Pool Guest Rule

Ms Mendez, In response to your e-mail about Pool Rules, as an active member of this neighborhod, the rules were revised so that they reflect what we are trying to accomplish which is a safe and enjoyable pool experience for everyone in our community. At the beginning of the season the age limit for guests was 13+. We had several incidents that occurred from the guests of the 16 to 20 year old age groups. We had to put the responsibility with the parent/homeowner. As Rule # 28 states your son/daughter can't get a guest in if they aren't 21+, you the parent/homeowner can. Because our pool is not large we had to restrict the number of guests a household can have. These rules are being enforced by a very dedicated group of volunteers and it is our duty as a Board for The McIntyre Homeowners to make this as simple as possible. I realize that all the decisions we make won't be popular ones but are necessary for what is best for our community. All Committee and Board meetings are posted and are open to anyone who has comments or suggestions they wish to air. It appears you have an aggressive approach since you are collecting signatures to petition for a change in the rules. Why not be agressive and become more active with the board/committee if your schedule allows. We welcome and need more people involved to make this a better community.
Keep the age at 21

I have a 15 month old and can only use the pool during the day time when no one is home due to the ''hoods'' at the pool. This is getting harder because it is so hot for a baby to be at the pool at that time. The kids at the pool are rude and don't listen to the lifeguards. If you ask me I think there should be a ''zero tolerance'' policy. Meaning that if you are using nasty language and acting like a thug while families are trying to enjoy the pool than you are asked to leave and not come back. Its sad that I can't take my son to a pool that I pay money for because of other peoples rude children. These children run wild all over this neighborhood acting all big and bad using nasty language and they think they run the pool too. BIG reason why we want to sell our house and get out of this neighborhood. Quit writing people up for stupid issues like trash cans and focus on the real issues in the neighborhood.
So You Both Really Agree! Good!

The basic content of these email responses is the same; make the pool a safe and enjoyable place for our homeowners.

So, again, ADDRESS the REAL problem. Step up and administer ''zero tolerance'' instead of making more restrictive rules.

As far as moving, we are seeing more and more signs go up. HOA be aware of the real needs as anonymous advises.
