Kill 'em with TRAPS
I have gone back to using old fashioned TRAPS in my yard. Even if you only use it once and throw it away it is about the same cost in the long run. I dont worry about a poisoned rat wandering over into my neighbors yard to die and possibly become a danger to their pets or children. I bait mine with a bit of sponge smeared with peanut butter. I have caught the occassional squirrel by accident but we have an over abundance of them, and a rodent is a rodent.
Take care while setting them and happy hunting.

Rats,Rats and More Rats
I recently contacted both and pest control company and rodent control
via mlg&w. I was happy to be informed
by the pest control. I should contact
mlg&w first. After you hire a pest control company Mlg&w will not intervine. They baited my yard with bait boxes.which have been very sucessful and no harm to my pets.
They were very infomative.although they were going to cite me for no poop scoop every day.
I didnt Know I should.(or that i could recieve a citation) I do this apprx once a week anyway. I was told my yard looked fine so she would not cite me.
(Scoop before you call if you have pets.)If we could get the majority of neighbors to call we may be able to elimate the problem in the neighbor.
I also discuss a friend who works in pest control and he also informed me that what was being done by mlg&w is what they would do.and much cheaper.
But it takes an effort asa whole neighborhood to completly eradicate the problem. Pls call mlg&w and help keep our hood rat free.
Thanks

Put notice in next flyer
Can we recommend that a notice is in the next flyer about cleaning up after pets to avoid a rodent problem? I was not aware that they ate animal poop. I can report sightings of rats in the Welch/Willow/Hopewell/Raymore area.
Along with another poster I am going ''green'' I have set my yard with several old fashioned rat traps and will try not to use any poison around my house.

rat correction
I apoligize I did state I contacted
Mlg&w but I called them they refered me to the shelby county health dept
Aka vector control Rodent control
phone # 324-5922. I do also have pets
and they baited with a bait box and chances of secondary poison from (Dead rats) are slim.
My pets are indoor outdoor and for several days after I went out with them to make sure they were not nibbling on anything dead and check the yard pretty often. I did try traps
first very unsucesfull.I also remain
very attentive to my grandchildren when they visit.I search the yard for anything dead and keep them away from the bait box.I did not allow them to just put poison out. I opted for the bait boxes. after much research and this was the most viable option.
sorry for the misleading info. appreciate all the info from others. Green is good. Thanks
