Does anyone know of plans for a ''communications tower and additional sign'' at Moriah Woods Office Park at Mt. Moriah and Willow (within CANA's boundaries) next to Willow Park and Faith Christian Church? I noticed a zoning change sign today on the property with the following case number: P.D. 07-337. Has CANA been contacted by the owner (Boyle Investment)or the City's Planning Division? Does CANA have a position on this? I hope a ''communication tower'' is not the same as a cell phone tower and the ''additional sign'' is not for a billboard, but I suspect it is.

A reliable source tells me that the Communication Tower is a radio tower for FM100, and the sign will be a ''For Lease'' sign (much better than a billboard).

You are correct, a billboard is not proposed. However, when I contacted the planning division, I learned that the tower is to be a 125-foot lattice-style (the ugliest style) radio transmission tower. By my rough calculation, its height is equal to a 12-story building.
According to the planning staff report, no comments were received from the Neighborhood Association and judging from the lack of replies to my initial post, it appears to be a nonissue.
It was approved on November 9th by the Land Use Control Board, however the City Council has the ultimate decision and will be considering it at its meeting on Tuesday, December 4th. If there is anyone who would like to submit concerns to the City about the tower at this stage of the process, I was told that the comments would be most appropriately addressed to Councilman Myron Lowery who is chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee.
