As residents of the Stone Oak area you should be receiving the monthly Stone Oak newsletter that is packed with very useful information. If you are new to our area and you are not receiving it please e-mail Christina Zook at czook@satx.rr.com. I volunteered last year to be the Mesa Verde representative for the SOPA and have really enjoyed attending the monthly meetings and learning so much useful information about our master planned community. I attended the August 25th meeting and I must say it was a great meeting. Some of the agenda items that we covered were Bexar Met Water. In attendance were the former Castle Hills Mayor Bob Anderson and his wife. They attended the meeting to inform us of the upcoming election of Board Members for Bexar Met and incurraged us to seek a Stone Oak candidate to run for District 9. There was some pretty heated discussion about Bexar Met Water and if you care to find out more of what went on at the meeting please call me or e-mail me and I will be happy to explain. There was also in attendance the current Board Member for District 9 Dean Perry (whom has voted for all of the past rate increases). If your water bill is sky high like mine is and you feel that the rates are way too high I suggest to all of you to e-mail you Council member Carroll Schubert and let him know how you feel.Council member Schubert?’s e-mail address is cschubert@sanantonio.gov. We?’re encouraged to e-mail him about our concerns with Bexar Met Water District. Also another great piece of information that I think ALL RESIDENTS should be aware of is?….that we do not have 24 hour EMS service for the Stone Oak Area. WHY? Well, at Wednesday?’s meeting we learned that there is an ambulance that is bought and paid for by our tax dollars that is just sitting at the fire station with no EMS personnel budgeted to be in it. I don?’t know about you but this really ruffles my feathers! So SOPA is asking that all residents concerned about this issue should
again e-mail Council member Schubert and ask?… Why?
Next years budget is going to be finalized around the middle of September and guess what? There will AGAIN be no money budgeted to staff this ambulance for the Stone Oak area. So the next time you call 911 take note of where your ambulance comes from. When I had to call 911 last year for Jake?…the EMS came from Thousand Oaks. You may have also noticed that we are getting sidewalks in front of Mesa Verde! Now who ever said I don?’t aim to please! I voiced my concern to the SOPA regarding the need for them and they listened. Along with Mesa Verde other areas around Stones Oak have been identified as having the need for sidewalks.
