Hi All,
Your fellow citizens, who live on/around Lake Villa Ave., Metairie are having an explosion in the population of wild coyotes. (The coyotes are hunting and killing ducks, cats and small dogs and are not pets). Fox 8 did a story on the problem recently.
Residents raise concerns over coyotes in Metairie (fox8live.com)
Our neighbors are very frustrated with both the parish and the Wildlife and Fisheries as their options /recommendations are: 1) to scare away the coyotes with noise or 2) hire approved agent and the agent will trap/remove the coyote. However, the cost of the agent is the residents's responsibility and not either the parish or the state. This is not acceptable. (Animal Control refers to coyotes as a 'nuisance animal' but a coyote bites; is increasingly not afraid of humans, and is a large animal. Squirrels are a nuiscance....not coyotes.)
If interested in working with us to petition the parish to assume financial responsibility and overtake the management of coyotes in URBAN AREAS please email us! Thanks
