It's True

Some of you are truly some of the finest
and are well perfoming public peace officers & professionals.

...but some of you are NOT.

Some of you are in excellent physical condition, well versed in procedure....rspectful and courteous, and
...Some of you are NOT.

There is room for improvement in any organization , including the WPD.

I'll support a pay raise and a fair contract, but please give us our full measure of pay, do not lobby for other jobs while you are still employed...

And, you do not need a 10.8 million dollar ediface from which to operate.

What Problem W/City Administr.?

To the best of my knowledge, we do not have a city administrator. If there is any blame to be given, it should go to the city council and possibly to the mayor. They may have a hired attorney or hired negotiator but those people will be taking their direction from the mayor and council. If you noticed they had a closed session meeting after the council meeting on Monday to discussed contract negotiations.

It's too bad that they don't have those sessions in public because then the city union employees would be able to know who their real council friends are and they could remember that, when the next council election comes up.

I know that these negotiations are tough for both sides but I have a real hard time understanding why some of our councilmen thought it so important to go to a two tag garbage system when the old sytem worked fairly well. They will not tell us how much that extra tag is costing the city, but I beleive it is over $100,000 a year. That is scarce tax money that could have been used for salary increases for the police and other city employees. I know that some residents were having trouble with one tag but that was no reason to change the whole system for everyone to accomodate a few. I have over a hundred tags that I have saved and I am sure that there are many other citizens with extra tags. I would have given those tags to some of needy few but our coucnil couldn't figure out how to fix that problem.

Every dollar of tax revenue that they waste could have been used to give raises to our deserving employees. I watch their spending very closely and I think they can do a better job on some of their expenditures. Having a new 11 million dollar police/court bldg will be nice but it won't be so nice if the employees working there are underpaid because we can't afford raises. There needs to be happy medium.

IT'S TRUE

I agree with you for the majority of your reply...there is room for improvement in any organization...mine included.

No one is perfect...we are as human as the next...and can only work on improvement, that which makes us all better. Improvement and change is good.

However I cannot help but feel that you are twisting the reply towards one person in particular, and this is not right or fair.

This thread had nothing to do with lobbying for jobs while employed with the city...

I wish I had the opportunity to be as critical and controlling when it comes to another's employment conditions, however I am not afforded this opportunity and unfortunately your job is not under such scrutiny as mine is, nor up for such public opinion or vote.

Thank you for considering on approving a raise for us and a fair contract...as long as we give our full measure of pay... but please remember that when we go to work there is the very good chance that we may return seriously injured...or not at all.

In regards to the ''ediface''...sad to say that technology and construction is not cheap...neither of us control rising costs...while you are entitled to your opinion and respectfully so...you do not at the same time work in this building and understand the needs or requirements of a modern police department.
