710, if you and your wife still go to the movies, MJR Southgate Cinema, besides having great wheelchair access, has several restrooms on their upper level that are reserved just for the disabled. There is an elevator you can take to the upper level. The general public is not allowed to use the elevator or the restrooms up there.
If you're out at an event or in a large public arena you can go to the 'guests services' area and ask to use a private restroom. In some cases they have a private restroom just for the disabled who need assistance or they will let you use the restroom they have in their First Aid area.
If you are at a place that doesn't have such a restroom, I would go to the manager and ask first if they have a private restroom. If they don't then say ''My wife needs to use the restroom and I have to assist her. Can you come to the restroom and wait outside to let women who want to enter know, that a man is in there assisting his wife.'' If your wife isn't comfortable with a male waiting outside the restroom ask for a female employee.
Every human being uses the bathroom and has a right to use a restroom when they are out in public. And no one should have to be embarrassed or made to feel awkward about it.
When you got to go.....you got to go!
