How does CAN work?
The CAN network is coordinated by the Nework Coordinator, a part time MCW employee who works out of the office at the Farmers Market. He (Chris Peterson recently hired) is setting up the contact lists for CAN and will send information about crime in the community to agencies and interested citizens who become CAN Captains for their neighborhoods. The CAN Captains report crimes in the neighborhood to the Network Coordinator who reports them to police. Trends are analyzied and reported to the netswork and interested parties or agencies. Potential crime situations are reported by the Captains to the Network coordinator who passes the info on to the police or others who may need to know. The CAN network wil also educate the commuhity, hold forums on crime and safety. Call Chris at Telephone 323-930-1218 or drop by the office most weeknights between 7-9 to talk with him about the network if interested in participating. By Dan Curtin |
