What is this fence about? It has run along the west side of Pan Pacific Park for two years now. Initially it protected the park from Grove construction, but now it sits there, probably illegally. In a neighborhood where so much talk is about traffic problems and their mitigation, one corollary of the problem is to have a neighborhood be walk-unfriendly. The park should be connected to the surrounding neigborhood, not isolated. In my opinion, instead of the fence, there should be a sidewalk running along the west side of the park, and a crosswalk that goes from the park to the valet parking area of the Grove. Why do we, in the surrounding neigborhood, have to walk all the way down to 3rd Street and cut through Nordstroms, just to enter the Grove? If anyone agrees, or has any insight into why this ugly chain-link fence is still there, or even if it is legal to be there, I would appreciate it.
