Middle Run Crossing Community Corner
Summer 2009 Update
Welcome! The next planning meeting for the neighborhood social events will be held on August 10th at 6:30PM. If you would like to join us, please send your name and phone number to mrxcommunity@yahoo.com.
A wonderful neighborhood WINE TASTING was held on Saturday, July 11th at Deerfield Fine Wines located in the Shoppes at Louviers on PaperMill Road. The Social COmmittee provided the food while Stephen Allegretto shared his expertise on the fine wines from around the world. Everyone who attended received a complementary bottle of wine, an etched wine glass with the MRX logo, and a passport to record the impressions of the wines. We would like to thank the staff at Deerfield for being excellent hosts for the evening as well. We will definitely host this event again in the future.
Future events: The Community Yard Sale will be advertized on Saturday, Sept. 26th and Sunday, Sept. 27th. We also may be coordinating a "Beer-Tasting" for those who prefer a different adult beverage. More to come on this!
Please check the website calendar for more details. Do you have an update you would like to share? Please send us the details and we will be happy to include in the newsletter and website.
Attention Neighborhood Business Owners: We are looking for Sponsors for the neighborhood events! Home-based businesses, scout-troops, schools, etc. etc. are welcome to sponsor an event.
Please see Sponsorship Agreement on the website for specific agreements and the different levels of sponsorship. We are very flexible and will work with you and your budget.
For more information, please send a note to mrxcommunity@yahoo.com.
Civic FYI: As many of you know, the neighborhood suffered two daytime burglaries in July. Luckily in both cases, no one was home and no one was harmed. Three suspects were arrested in late July and police have linked them to at least one of the break-ins, if not both, at the time of this posting.
New Castle County Police have recommended that if you see someone suspicious in the neighborhood and their presence is troubling to you, you should call NCC Police Non-Emergency on 302-573-2800 and request Police services. Once they patch you over, ask for any near-by police cruiser to come drive-thru the neighborhood. It is best if you can give a description, where the person was last seen and in which direction they were headed. That will give the officers the best information to pursue the suspicious person.
PLEASE NOTE: We are actively pricing NO SOLICITING signs for all three entrances of the neighborhood. The email traffic has been overwhelming positive on the use of the signs and their potential effect to limit unwanted business soliciting in the neighborhood.
If someone or some business continues to solicit after the signs are up and they are given notice of the signs, please report them to this mailbox and we will contact the business to alert them of the no solicitation policy. Repeat offenders will be published on the website after proper notice has been given.
Any and all suggestions are welcome on this topic.
