Middle Run Crossing Community Corner
April/May 2009 Update

APRIL was EGG-traordinary and MAY we get even better as the year goes on? The next planning meeting for the neighborhood social events will be held on MAY 11th at 6:30PM. If you would like to join us, please send your name and phone number to mrxcommunity@yahoo.com.
The successful Neighborhood EGG HUNT was held on Saturday, April 4th at what has affectionately become know as "M-Dove Field", the corner of Mourning Dove and Starlett. THANK YOU to everyone who showed up especially our Easter Bunny (check out the pictures)! Our attendance was well beyond our expectations so next year the message is loud and clear - WE NEED MORE EGGS!! We will likely expand the age groups as well given the number of kids who were outside of the initial age groups and wanted to participate. Also thank you for the cash donations that help offset our costs of refreshments and supplies.
Future events: Next up **Wine Tasting** (advance sign-up required). We are teaming up with Pamela's Gourmet for food and our own neighborhood expert, Steve Allegretto, for libations for this Parent's Night Out Event!! Details are still being worked out so please check the website calendar for more details.
Do you have an update you would like to share? Please send us the details and we will be happy to include in the newsletter and website.

Attention Neighborhood Business Owners: We are looking for Sponsors for the neighborhood events! Home-based businesses, scout-troops, schools, etc. etc. are welcome to sponsor an event.
Please see Sponsorship Agreement on the website for specific agreements and the different levels of sponsorship. We are very flexible and will work with you and your budget.
For more information, please send a note to mrxcommunity@yahoo.com.

Civic FYI: Wild Birds Unlimited of Hockessin offers this update:
The Kennett Township Land Trust is holding their first ever Eco-Festival this weekend (May 9/10). The event will include a 9k Trail Run, guided spring wildflower and bird walks, orienteering challenge, hot air balloon rides, pony rides, kid's activities, environmental workshops and presentations. Fresh food and libations all produce within a 25 mile radius. General admission is 15$ kids under 12 are FREE. It's being held at Stateline Woods Preserve just over the PA/DE line at 814 Merrybell Lane off Old Kennett Road. www.kennettlandtrust.org
These are the final days to participate in the 3rd Annual Delaware Bird-A-Thon. This fund raiser held by the Delmarva Ornithological Society is designed to raise funds to help protect vital Delaware bay shoreline. The land is a key part to the survival of the Red Knot, a migratory bird that relies on horseshoe crab eggs for nourishment. It's very easy count as many species as you can in a 24 hour period within the state of Delaware. Have friends, family and neighbors pledge monies for the number of species you count. Great fun for the whole family. www.dosbirds.org
