Welcome! The next planning meeting for the neighborhood social events will be held on September 8th at 6:30PM. If you would like to join us, please send your name and phone number to mrxcommunity@yahoo.com.
Vandalism
Saturday, August 15th, a Toyota Forerunner was vandalized in the driveway of a home on Mourning Dove Drive, near Smith Mill Road. The family was away overnight and returned Sunday to find the car with toilet paper and egg and all over it (back, front & sides). The family called the non emergency police number and reported the incident. They mentioned that a few reports of the same nature in our area were made on Sunday. The police encouraged the family to install a camera on the driveway to record any future incidents that occur.

Speed limit reminder
Attention Drivers - New and Experienced!! Neighbors have expressed concern that we remind all drivers that the SPEED LIMIT in the neighborhood is 25 MPH. It will NOT kill you to do the speed limit. However, vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for children 2 to 14 years of age. The death rate on residential streets is almost 3 times the death rate on highways. Also as school starts, please remember to stop for all school buses and watch for children crossing the street.
No Soliciting Signs - Update
We have forwarded a quote for three no soliciting signs to Tom Cahill of BCC Communities. He is going to present it to the Maintenance Committee Board of Directors for approval per the Deed Restrictions. Once approved the signs will be posted at all three entrances.
Playgroup - New
As schedules are being planned for the fall, there has been some interest in setting up a neighborhood playgroup for the babies as well as little ones who may not be in school yet or are on a flexible pre-school schedule. If you are interested in participating and possibly hosting a playgroup for ages 0-4, please send an email to mrxcommunity@yahoo.com with your name, phone and names, ages of your children. We will coordinate among the interested parties. Limited to children who reside in Middle Run Crossing 1 and 2.
Community Yard Sale - Reminder
September 26th and September 27th are the dates we will be advertizing in the various community publications, including DEOnline and the News Journal print edition, for the community-wide yard sale.
Halloween Parade - October 24th
We are well into the planning stages for the community Halloween parade. Parents and kids of all ages are invited to come out in your best costume and march for a fun time! Advance sign up and a small registration fee* will be required so we can plan for snacks and fun. Watch for more details.
*Donations are down this year so inorder to provide the community social activities, we may need to ask for funds per event to cover the cost of snacks, beverages, games, etc. We hope not to have to do this in the future as people realize what great programs we can run with the minimal $12 annual donation per household.
Home Maintenance - Reminder
Take a look at your home from the street. Do you have bushes or trees that overhang or block the public sidewalk? It is your responsibility to cut back shrubs and branches that impede the walkway. Also check for dead branches that overhang the sidewalks or your neighbors property. Now is the time to trim back the growth before someone gets hurt.
Trail build volunteers - A New path to Paper Mill Park
A message from Jim Ireland, President, Delaware Trail Spinners (www.trailspinners.org), 302 632 2816, jim.ireland@verizon.net:
Delaware Trail Spinners (DTS) is the the organization that takes care of the trails in Middle Run Natural Resource Area for New Castle County.
DTS is about to start building a trail that will connect Paper Mill Park to Middle Run Natural Resource Area. This connection will create two additional trail heads for the community of Middle Run Crossing and finally give residents a safe way to walk or bike to Paper Mill Park. DTS is a volunteer organization and that can always use additional help. We are hoping to get a few volunteers from the community to help DTS on this project and potentially assist with maintenance.
DTS has started construction on the connection to Paper Mill Park and hope to recruit some help building the bridge. We need up to 10 people per day to get the neighborhood connected to Paper Mill Park by Labor Day. The bridge we?’re building is over 180 feet long and 78 inches wide. Please contact Jim Ireland if anyone can help on any of these days:
