Chapter 1, History of MCC

This was thankfully compiled by resident historian Mary S

Thanks Mary

The original Mill Creek Crossing was created in 1987-88 by developer E.E. Leonard
The story was that he had lived previously in South America so he named the streets of the neighborhood after cities on that continent as well as other spanish words.
With names like Caracas Dr, Lima Ct, Meches Lane and especially Cacique Ct, some residences had to get used to people asking them to spell their street names.

More History

Deer and assorted wild critters were a common sight in the early years because some of the homes backed up to the corps or engineers property. The voluntary homeowners association was launched in 1989 with 35 homes joining. Regular eating get togethers/homeowner business meetings were held in various cul de sacs with good participation. The many families with young children planned Easter egg hunts and Halloween costume judging contest!
The hallmark of the subdivision was how the kids played from yard to yard frequently ending up at coach Bill Hawkins flat yard on Meches Lane/Caracas Dr for a game of baseball or football.
