We all agree that the debt exclusion can be used only for the terms stated; however, while we are creating a loan, an amount separate from our general budget, we are in fact freeing up capital to be used for items some of us feel inappropriate, at least in this difficult fiscal time. Without the override our government would be forced to at the least level fund appropriations. When I vote no to an override, of any ilk, I am saying let us live within our means, renegotiate contracts where the union relinquishes arbitraries for new benefits, revisit departmental budgets, consider consolidating departments, etc. Primarily I am saying please do not spend money we do not have. I believe that if we free up funds from the general budget today we set the precedent for all our tomorrows.

How did they settle on $12,000,000 as the needed amount, that number is overly generous!

Every year the same song, we want it all, the schools are falling down, the roads need repair(Why do the school teachers care about the roads).These people are becoming ruthless tax experts with their own state lobby and a staff of override experts in Boston!

Their union president Mr.Krammer has stated that he would like the various town governments pay less attention to prop. 2.5 laws and concentrate on their needs. In other words ignore prop. 2.5!

We the taxpayers treat this gang as local school marms when in reality they are well organized army of cash crazed tax hogs, giving more than 80%
of all funds to the teachers pension and compensations, so much for the kids, its all about the teachers!

By the way you know where the trash collection fee went, tell us?

My understanding of the money that is being freed up by the debt exclusion id to pay for trash pickup within the town. Nothing else.

I agree that we should live within our budgets and I am concerned with the school department's ploy to fool us once again by using state aid for recurring expenses. That's what got us in this mess in the first place. I hope the FinCom sees it for what it is and reduces the budget by the amount of state aid.

The trash fee that we pay goes to the collection of trash.

The 12 million dollar number was arrived at by the FinCom's desire to include more than road improvments in the bond. If the schools weren't included in this question it would pass in a minute but the FinCom insists on adding schools to the mix.

I think the breakdown is 8 million for roads, 3 million for school improvement and 1 million for police/fire and COA.

If we keep hearing the same old thing from year to year and don't do anything about it, how does the problem get fixed? I don;t think anyone should get a raise this year but I think we need to begin to correct our mistakes of the past and take care of our capital needs.
