QUIET ELECTION ?

Posted in: Millis
A big differenceb between the 2

I wouldn't ever vote for an override because I know that it will never go away.

I am in favor of this debt exclusion because it will go away after awhile and the money can only be used for the purpose that was voted on. I don't think any selectmen would dare bring back a trash fee if the debt exclusion passes and I'd like to see the trash fee go away.

The debt exclusion is good news to me because it assures us that the money the school receives will not go to salaries but will go to what was requested on the ballot. We all know that you can't trust the schools to do what they are supposed to with the money they receive from the town and this corrects that.

We should do this (an annual bond) for each section of the school budget to be sure that what we vote on at town meeting is done by this department.

Ledger Article Offers Blame To
us the users of this link! MS. Ackerman told the Ledger that this site contributed to negativity and mistrust! Mr Bottiggi said this site was out of control, the site turned into a forum for a minority of people to just rip into politician in town, I believe that?’s called freedom of speech and apparently Belds general manager is against that freedom!

Beld is the daily sponsor of the site! How can an insult perceived to be slander if the person insults another and both are called by assumed names like TMM and THO?

Mr. Higgins says if you are a public official you are fair game! He also says his family was attacked! These elected officials have very thin skins,

The Ledger was fed the party line on the reason for the shutdown, no mention at all on the opposition to an override/exclusion!!Just a mention Mr. Sisk lives with his parents and knows nothing of taxes!

All in all the theory that the elected officials are the one's that shut down this site, I vote for the selectmen telling Belds general manager to call Mr.Pinkowitz to shut it down, the override was in danger of failure!!

WE ALL KNOW WHAT TO DO NOW!!

Now you speak of multiple exclus

?“I wouldn't ever vote for an override because I know that it will never go away.?”

(Once an exclusion is passed there will be more, one for every pet project in town, its an override in disguise!!)

?“I am in favor of this debt exclusion because it will go away after awhile and the money can only be used for the purpose that was voted on.
(Not true, schools control their own spending and money)

I don't think any selectmen would dare bring back a trash fee if the debt exclusion passes and I'd like to see the trash fee go away.?”
(It would go away after it was all paid off, and the next one would be ready!)

(The trash fee is small change when compared to a $12,000,000 (millions to start) exclusion, this will all be used to finance wage increases, as the old saw goes once the nose is in the house the body soon follows!)

(If this override attempt fails, and I hope it does fail, will the Selectmen impose an additional trash or another type of fee as a further punishment for our collective disobedience?)

?“The debt exclusion is good news to me because it assures us that the money the school receives will not go to salaries but will go to what was requested on the ballot?”.

(You seem to forget the School dept. has full control of any funds it gains, the town has no control if internal school money shuffling, they would use any funds to finance the schools bloated contract!)

?“We all know that you can't trust the schools to do what they are supposed to with the money they receive from the town and this corrects that.?”

?“We should do this (an annual bond) for each section of the school budget to be sure that what we vote on at town meeting is done by this department.?”

(Here you are exposed as being a member of the school teachers lobby/teachers union/friends of spend it all on the schools !Now you speak of multiple exclusions for the schools wish list!)

(You must think we are stupid to fall for your plea, again the schools cannot be controlled in their spending desires, they only want the money, all of the money in town!)

By they only want the money, all of
Waste someone else's time

I said that if the debt exclsuion passes it will ensure that the money that is voted on can only be used for this purpose. This is a fact and you should spend a minute to get your facts straight.

It is true that any moneys that are allocated to the schools go in a lump sum fashion without our ability to place restrictions upon them.

This money is not part of the budget that gets passed to the schools. It is separate and can only be used for the purposes specified.

I am perturbed with the school departments constant arroagance to the taxpayer and feel that instead of giving them money within their budget for capital, that we instead bond this money, while using the amount that would have been allocated, so that we can be sure that the work gets done. This is the problem with funding the schools. We continue to give them the money and they continue to spend it any damn way they please.

It may or may not be true that more questions like these will come in the future but at least we have the ability to say no.

I called the DOR to get info on the debt exclusion and the law is very clear on how th money can be used....only for the purposes that were voted upon by the voters of the town.

Instead of slinging the bull, get the facts straight.
