Parking is Private Property

Who else out there has issues with your 2 parking spaces being used by other residents or their company. If it is considered private property of the owner; the owner should have the right have lines painted and numbers painted on their parking spaces. Until something is done on a permanent level, I suggest purchasing some concrete blocks and paint them yellow to reserve the parking space that is privately owned by YOU!.. Anyone who tries to pull in without warning will be met with some destrcution. If you park illegally than you deserve to have some auto damage.

Parking is one of those ongoing issues in our community that merits our full attention simply because of the potential it carries for negative expressions of intense emotions.  This presents a very unique challenge for a community which is that of maintaining harmony and good neighbor relations while resolving conflicts.  The Middletown Village residents' representative organizations do not suggest that residents take inappropriate measures to resolve neighbor misunderstandings.  Middletown Village has a civic association that offers the residents of Middletown Village services for conflict resolution with arbitration, mediation and negotiation.  The MTVC&CWG also offers conflict resolution in support of the Civic Association.  Where it applies in our development, each Middletown Village lot has two (2) parking spaces, exclusively, for each lot.  Each parking space is nine feet wide (9') totaling eighteen feet (18') in the front of each lot.  Many residents utilize an obvious part of their home to determine this distance, e.g., from one decending front rain spout to the next lot's decending front rain spout, or by referencing the inspection survey paper for their property which they received at closing.  (Having stated that, some units in Middletown Village have three (3) front parking places; but, they are the exception rather than the rule.)  When anyone is parking in or on private property that does not belong to them, they are in violation of that property.  The owner of the property which is being violated has options.  They can, with mutual respect and dignity, contact the person who is in violation, (and here it is important to remember that the person in violation, more than likely, is not doing this intentionally, they may not realize that they are in violation of someone else's property), and reasonably and peacefully resolve the situation.  Or, the homeowner can choose to contact their civic association and request neighbor conflict resolution service.  Or, the homeowner can contact local law enforcement and request that the vehicle in violation be cited (Proper documentation authoritatively establishing and proving actual ownership of the property that is being violated  MUST be present before contacting local law enforcement and when they arrive.) and then request or make arrangements for towing.  If  homeowners begin to stripe their own front parking spaces, they may encounter some inquiries and possible fines from the town concerning the qualities of both the product (the kind of stripping being used; i.e., will the lines run, will they glow, etc.) and skill (pertaining to uniformity; i.e., color of lines, width of lines, etc.).

 

     All residents are encouraged to utilize the overflow parking areas provided in various sections of the development and refrain from "stacking" parking which is the parking of a vehicle, on the street, horizontal to two (2) perpindicular parked vehicles in the front of a home.

 

     Actually, as of this posting, representatives from both Middletown Village organizations met with town manager, Mr. Morris Deputy, Wednesday of this week (8/5/09) and presented and discussed our community's parking concerns as well as the lighting for Middletown Village (the MTVC&CWG performs lighting surveys).  The meeting will hopefully have favorable results.  We will keep you advised.  MTVC&CWG
