Absolutely agree 100%. Karma will be when the HOA is gone and these people live with neighbors who hate them...

Ladies & Gentleman,

While I agree that it seems like there is not a uniform way to do reviews of the covenants and restrictions you agreed to when you purchased your home in Copper Grove, is it not appropriate to dismantle any HOA as this is what helps a neighborhood keep from loosing its Home Value. Many, many neighborhoods that do not have any HOA have so many issues with Homeowners doing whatever they wish to their property without regard to their next door neighbors.

There needs to be a middle ground where "all" parties can agree to what the solution is and to protect each persons rights as well as it's neighbors rights.

In the end, no-one ever tells anyone to move into an edition with restrictions and for those homeowners that want no restrictions, you should move into an area where this is not the case. Not everyone can or will make the rigtht decisions so lets get a Middle Ground worked out to ensure quality of life for every homeowner.

I would have to disagree as to why homes lose value. Our homes have lost value because of the economy. Unless we have a change in the White House they will drop even more.

Our homes no different than any homes anywhere will lose value with age. If they don't lose value, they will stop going up in value and will not stay equal with new homes. Neighborhoods get old. If a person lives in a dump and have trash all over their property, that is one thing. If someone wants to put a fence up that is another. Organizations such as the board of health can get things done a lot quicker than an HOA can in these matters. If I want pale yellow siding with white trim and a tan roof, it is no ones business but mine. If I want a three foot white PVC picket fence around my yard because it would make my yard pop, who are they to say I can't. Preventing this would take away my ability to increase the value of my home.

A home is a persons or families number one large investment they will make in their lives. Human nature will prevent them from turning it into a shit hole. These are our homes and we need the autonomy to treat them as such. After all, it is us that make the mortgage payments.

When HOA`s are formed, there is an out clause agreed to when they are formed by the State and the community. In ours we have a date 20 years after it has been formed, it can be dissolved by a majority vote of the members. It also may be kept and amended. I personally can't wait until this period is up. I would like to see it amended to take away any power one individual has over another. Restrict them to contracts with vendors only...Just saying

Homes loose values for many reasons "other" than just the economy. Many subdivisions loose value because homeowners do not keep up with proper maintenance on their homes or let the grass grow to 4-6 inches before cutting, or paint homes crazy colors, which has a huge impact on home values for the entire edition. While I agree there needs to be standards in how "all" rules are implemented, there needs to be rules to protect each and every homeowner or the values will be 50% of what they are now in 10 years.

I can tell you are frustrated, and want to see changes made as we all do, but you will get real resistance from most homowners to any discussion of cancelling the HOA. As a long time owner in the neighborhood, I'm not willing to let 165 homeoweners do whatever they want, and this edition go to hell like so many other neighborhoods in the township have. Again, living in a neighborhood is not for everyone, but it is for everyone that enjoys the quality of life that we all expect.
