Mountain Preserve Blockwatch

First Block Watch Meeting

Due to the encouragement of several of my neighbors I agreed to hold the initial meeting of our Block Watch in my home on February 2, 1995. A Phoenix Police Officer from the Desert Horizon Precinct was present along with 12 of my neighbors. I agreed to be the Block Watch Leader.
We moved into the neighborhood in January, 1990. We feel fortunate to live in such a beautiful area with neighbors that look out after each other.

Subdivisons Included

Foothill Del Oro and Sher-Renee Heights were the subdivisions that defined our geographic area. However, anyone outside the area was welcome to attend. I continued as Block Watch Leader until January 1998, when Barney Wolfson accepted the position. I have continued to be an active participating member along with my wife Della.
I am the past Newsletter Editor and would appreciate your input as to what information is important to you.

Block Watch Area Expanded

Sierra Bonita subdivision was added to our Block Watch in July 1997. We now have over 325 homes in our Block Watch. Each year we are eligible for Block Watch Grant Funds through the City of Phoenix up to a maximum of $10,000.
Our current Block Watch Leader is Janet DeMars, who took over from Barney Wolfson several years ago.

Together, we can do more for our neighborhood then each of us individually. Thank you all who have volunteered over the years to make our neighborhood better.

Sincerely,

Dave & Della Garfield
