Americans aren't quitters, their just fatter now so they can't sustain as long anymore. We've got balls, at least I do, but I'm not gonna offer them up for the whacking because some Jesus-freak thinks it's in my best interest. And you're right 100%. We don't learn from our mistakes. Vietnam was a mistake and we should've known Iraq was gonna be the same thing.
And for the record, it doesn't make you un-patriotic to NOT stand behind the war and stand behind your child or spouse who is enlisted. It just makes you a living, breathing, caring person.
