Are you guys talking nationally or locally? Hello! Wal-Mart is in our town! No Mall or any other ''real competitors'' to speak of! How mamy other towns are like this?
Wal-Mart's stock grows in our town & others because they are local. We can choose to drive out of town to get the bargains offered out of town, or stay here & shop @ our ''very LOCAL Wal-Mart!''.
Target & other stores decided that the market here was too ''soft'' for them. Wal-Mart chose to believe in us & are making a profit. They made a good business decion.
Target & others underestimated the potential market in our town. Wal-Mart did not.

Walmart is in Muscatine for

one reason. The same reason it is in all the places it is...to make money for its stock holders. Plain and simple. It is not a mater of believing in a community. Their only belief is to make money. They dont really care if you or I like them or dont. They are a money making machine. That is what they do. Yes they support local organizations and employ a lot of people but dont get in their way or you will get run over.

Wal-Mart stock

is part of my portfolio and I must say I've had a comfortable year with the performance of Wal-Mart's stock. Most of stock is spread out amongst some of the big board leaders. Those who scoff at Wal-Mart stock are either ignorant of the market or choose not to admit they own shares. I remember what the naysayers said a number of years ago about Berkshire Hathaway. I've prospered with Berkshire stock and I'm certain I'll prosper with Wal-Mart stock as well. Lets trust the future will hold and remain a bull market for us all.
