Why do we put up with this?

I sometimes wonder how some people look at things like this then go back and vote for the same people over and over again. In the US, we can easily change this if we collectively have a mind to do so. I am not trying to make this a partisna political issue, I merely wonder aloud how we become so complacent and disengaged that we allow something which obvioulsy displeases us to go on and on.

WASHINGTON (Reuters). Sept. 19, 2007 By John Whitesides.

The U.S. Congress registered record-low approval ratings in a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.

A paltry 11 percent rated Congress positively, beating the previous low of 14 percent in July.

The story of course is longer and also mentions the Presidents poll ratings which are also low but not as low as those of Congress.

So the question is, if an apparent 89% of us do not approve of our Congress, why will most of them be returned by the voters in the next election? I guess we truly to get what we deserve, especially when we have the power to change what we not not like.

Right on

I look at all those candidates, BOTH sides, and just can't believe what I'm seeing. We just keep trading one bad for another bad. I don't know what the answer is or how to fix it. It doesn't really matter which party gets in. It's going to be the same old crap all over again.
Exactly

Exactly why I posted this on the 17th in the ''Calling all conservatives'' post:

Wonder also, why it is that since April of this year and shortly after libs took control, that the spread of poll results posted at pollingreport.com, showing the many polling services results; has stayed widened in the dislike of the job a lib-controlled Congress is doing?

With some 10 or so polling services and news agencies repeating regular polling of Americans; why has the dislike not improved, if liberals running things was supposed to have been our salvation?

Check it out for around April 1st through the week of 9/11:

Pollingreport.com

is supported by a conservative led think tank that skews it's polls in favor of conservative causes. Don't think for a minute bigbrother that you're going to slide by on that one.

Polls are always based on percentages. Pollsters don't tell you how many people they polled, they don't tell you the demographics they polled, they don't tell you which part of the country they polled. Polls give a percentage which can be skewed in favor of the conservatives or liberals.

How often, if ever, has anyone on this blog participated in a National Poll? Sit down bigbrother you'll have your chance to respond without offering any shred of proof.

Ten phone calls could be made on any poll. 8 answer in favor of the Republicans, 2 in favor of the Democrats. Thereby, the poll reflects an 80% favorability rating to the Republicans. Polls are nothing more than smoke and mirrors. If you had any real brains you'd know that.

Nedl brings up the best point. We're trading off bad for worse. Until we hold our leaders responsible for their actions and for the reasons we elect them to office then nothing is going to change. However, people like bigbrother prefer this type of body politic. They're satisfied with the continued bickering, constant finger pointing, and incessant blame that comes with political stalemate.

Bigbrother is always the first to boast about how wonderful this administration has been for the Nation. Yet looking back through this blog I see where bigbrother has consistently failed to offer up an answer to a most simple question. Why have we failed to capture Bin Laden?

Even now, that stalwart of the Federal Reserve System, Allen Greenspan, in his recent book has said the Iraq war is all about oil, not terrorism. No matter how you try to spin it, Allen Greenspan, whose opinions and comments still cause Wall Street to shudder put down in words his opinion just like all those retired Generals who came before Congress and who were summarily ignored by the Republican leadership. So I ask you bigbrother, someone who isn't asshamed to admit how much revenue he's earned on his oil shares, is Greenspan a liar or a truthsayer?

Take your polls and tuck them under your pillows at night. Maybe they'll continue to allow you the sweet dreams of eutopia you so longlingly seem to be lost in.
