on military service brought to mind something I wish I had done when I had the opportunity. I wish I had tape recorded or video taped interviews with parents and relatives about their lives and kin they knew who were long dead.
It's confusing trying to sort out relationships after all who would know are gone. Just a suggestion to all who have aged family members.

Good idea

My wife started writing down conversations she has had with her grandmother (who turned 92 this year). They're both having a great time doing it...however...I've tried to talk her into using some kind of electronic device like a tape recorder or even a video recorder...but then she reminds me that I would have to teach her how to use them...and she agrees that neither one of us would survive the training sessions.
