To me it means I can make my own choice. I am free to do what I want, when I want! But I also know that I am to be responsible with my freedom. I must respect all others equally afforded the same rights and freedom. I also know that it is my duty to help protect my ,our freedom. Freedom has been earned through the lives of the soldiers who fought for it. To allow it to slip away slowly is very disrespectful to them soldiers. Both the parties are guilty of slowly eroding away our rights. We are also guilty of allowing it to happen. We the people have the power to stop this erosion! When we lose the power it will then take force and violence to change things. I myself love my freedom and I am very thankful to the ones who have fought for it. Mahalo ,Mahalo and Thank You! What say you!

Real freedom-

is independence. Depending on government for more and more is to lose freedom bit by bit.

living without fear

Freedom to me is...
1) Taking my trash to the curb in the early morning hours without fear.
2) Taking my dog for a walk at 10:00 pm without fear.
3) Knowing that I can sign a permission slip for my children to go on a field trip, (or send them to school), and feel that they won't be in extreme danger.
4) Sitting on my front porch in the evening and listening to the cicadas and the train whistles as they pass through our town. ((What a beautiful sound!).
5) Having the choice to stop and close my eyes with gratitude when I hear the bells of St. Mary Church ring, and feel the blessing and the touch of God.
6) Going to the Riverfront and watching OUR children play in the fountain, (for free), while their parents watch over them protectively, not out of fear; the kids playing on the playground equipment, running, screaming and having fun!
7) Eating a great grilled hot dog, chips and drinking a nice cold water for FREE...given out by a wonderful couple from a church on W. 7th Street!
They didn't preach...only handed out free food & drink to anyone there. They asked for a prayer request is all. I gave them one...and saw many others answer their ministry!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL, SAFE & LOVING TOWN WE LIVE IN! That is freedom to me! Muscatine people watch each others' backs.
I can't change global decisions. I hope I can make a difference locally.
