Just Don't Get It do You
The more money a person makes makes the property taxes less painful to pay, as it is a smaller portion of their overall budget. Why don't you ask them how to lower the taxes? I'm sorry to propose such a complicated question for this group.

Good thoughts
Good thoughts, janitor. I agree that a large part of the kids that are going to choose drugs won't come to after-school programs. But my plan is more not school related. The largest part of my plan, so far, is to consider creating some sort of youth center... you know, a place that these teenagers and young people will want to come. Videogames, dances, etc, but with some eagle eyes watching (you wouldn't be able to notice, though). We'd have activities designed to keep kids healthier (since we all know this is a problem also) and find ways to get them to have more healthy food alternatives as well.
The police department is a little stretched... maybe they had another incident going on at the same time? I can't comment too much on that, since I don't know the details. I'd comment more, but I have to get to work. Hope you get that shed problem taken care of.

Youth center?
C'mon Ryan. I wish I had a dollar for every youth center ever proposed, planned or built. Churches all talk 'youth center'. I thought the YW-YMCA was a 'youth center'.
You know what went on at 'youth centers' in my time? We hung out in the parking lot and smoked and/or drank.
Stick to city matters and take small bites.

you might...
You :might: be right, nedl. But, how many of these youth center ideas come from youth themselves? Churches, the Y, their type of 'youth center' isn't appealing anymore. They keep appealing to sport-players, or people with money, etc (the Y costs a small fortune)... often the people who aren't so much at risk for drugs. There's a clear reason my plan will work... actually, there are several. First of all, the idea is being supported by many youth in the area (I'm working on talking to more people). Second, have you ever seen a youth center with Nintendo Wii? Not only does this appeal to videogame fans, but research suggest the Wii is a way to get non-active kids active, which can also lower the rate these kids turn to drugs. It's hard to make a good argument here, but I'll be putting up some more info about the plan on my website as soon as I get a chance.
