One thing I would pass along to Jaycees, is that their are many variances to the fire and building codes for ''temporary Haunted Houses''. I have picked these up trying to get ours opened. I want you all to know that when ours was shut down, it hurts like hell. After all the time and money put into it. I hope this maight help you guys to re-open. I know we can gather some people to help with the repairs, if you would allow us.

Instead of fire sprinklers you can get by with fire extinguishers, given the proper amount and size.

The electrical issue is a no win, you have to have outlets for all your props. We were not allowed to use drop cords, but you can use surge protectors to plug more than one prop into. Maybe a giving electrician could help out with this?

There is also variances for the drywall walls. There is a sheat plastic that is approved by the Fire Safety Codes. It is a fire retardant plastic. You can get it online, but there is probably a local place also. Heres the online site...http://www.americover.com/Products/FRBlackPlastic.html.

I know you had a few narrow walkways, from when I was out there. We were told to try keep our pathways 3 foot wide. I would imagine that is for if the EMT's would have to bring a stretcher in. That is a matter of bumping a few walls maybe.

I dont know what other concerns they had, but if you Google for Haunted House Codes, you will find alot of variance information. Shot the things you feel would make it safer, to the Fire Marshal, and see what he says.

I know alots been said back and forth, but we honestly was not happy when you were closed. Their is absolutely nothing wrong with competition. If anything, it makes it better for the public and it will encourage all haunted house organizers, to try to come up with the next best thing.

Troy, you know how I can be reached, by making a couple phone calls. I will help you out with the variances if you wish.

The only thing I see 2 Haunted Houses doing in Muscatine, is making it even better for EVERYONE. (yes, we do plan to do this again next year... :) )
