I read Chosen's post & all the replies. Chosen ABSOLUTELY has a point! Some of us come here wanting to make a difference in our own town.
Some of us care about our neighbors, and would rather not have another poster drag our name or reputation into the ground. Neighbors are supposed to support each other.
Lil gets that...a few others do! However, there are SOME that are here to try & make themselves feel better with their vicious words...they make many of us hesitate to post. We all grew up on that playground, somewhere, that we were afraid of being different. These very people were the ones that were willing to go that extra ''mean'' mile to make us feel ''unworthy''. They usually won! They found support with the people that were afraid to be strong!
I ABSOLUTELY agree with you, Chosen. There have been times that a person has tried to post an innocent, well written & heart felt post...and BEEN MADE FUN OF & RIDICULED over & over. The original post, in many cases has never been addressed.
I agree with you that our town is capable of MORE than that, this site is capable of drawing an audience that CAN step up to the plate and behave like adults, not children on a playground. You stepped up to that plate, so did Lil, & a few others. I'm with you. This site could be so much more.

Wow

I'm impressed. Someone actually understood my babble. You wrote it much better then I. I hope the better half of the board listens.

Peace

Our town isn't full of idiots

I get it, Chosen. Thank you for stating the obvious. There are posters that I, (and hopefully others), IGNORE! Take what you learned on that playground years ago, get the tough skin needed & keep posting your opinions. Some of us agree with you and are just afraid of the bullies. You aren't alone & neither am I. Our town is full of caring, loving & supportive people. People that have gotten past the playground. We can allow them to continue to be mean & hateful, or stand our ground. SV...get sober & make a difference! Enough with the Junior High Crap!
There shouldn't be a place for others to ''shoot down another'', simply because of opinions stated. Not in our town, anyway. Negative opinions can be stated in a caring way. If others decide to cut us off at the knees...it's their problem, not ours.

Hey Tlou

When you're right, you're right. This site can and has been more than this constant back and forth, and the constant name calling. We all come here for different reasons, and we've all been criticized for it at some point. Some come here to discuss local issues, some come here to discuss national politics. Some come here to joke around with people who make them laugh, and some come here to try and make someone's day a little better. There is room for all of that, but what we seem to have right now is a group of adults reliving every playground argument they had in elementary school. And I'm not going to say one side is worse than the other, because regardless of who started it, you have all contributed to it and kept it going. All the participants in this long-running argument have also shown themselves able to act like adults and say things other than,'' I know you are but what am I?''. I challenge you gentlemen to go back and read what you have posted over the past couple of days and ask yourself if its worthy of your intelligence.
