nice thought, but
30 years ago, turning off the tv might have been possible, but as important as emails, texts have become, I don't even go pee now without my cell phone.
Do I hate cells, IM's, etc, and being ''that in touch''. Not at all.
When I think of cell phones, I think of my child at at school, and I think of Columbine, and the like. I never want that kind of catastrophe to occur and my child not be able to reach me.
While my confidence in our local law-enforcement officials is comfortable...MORE than comfortable, I have less faith in the administrators in our school district, so I will encourage my child to carry their cell-phone, and I want my child to be able to text me if there's something she's freaked out about at school.
I can turn off my TV...I rarely watch TV, and I would be willing to turn off my computer for a day, though it might be painful, but my cell phone is my lifeline to make sure my child is okay in school. (sad, but even in school, we need to be concerned about our childrens safety). And if you think high-school kids are not using their cell-phones during the day you are SO wrong. I'm thankful for that, though. As long as their usage doesn't disrupt class, we should all be thankful our kids carry their phones during the day.
Anyway, great proposal, and I would give up a lot of it, but I can't give up my connection to my child. Beyond that, I like to have some kind of music playing all the time here, but I could even give that up for a day.
Got another offer?
Enjoy this beautiful Fall day folks before it disappears.
Always,
Lil
