I'm sorry you got the responses you did to your post. I'm not a biker, Evil Knievel fan or true blue sports fan. Just surrounded by them!
When I read your post, I thought about a day @ my parents house. The guys, & a few of the gals were watching a Nascar Race. Lots of joking, bets & laughter. There was a crash. Many of us continued on with our lives, while Every Nascar Fan in that house was watching the news wanting to know how Dale Sr. was?
The phone rang & my brother got the news that Dale Sr. was gone. The grief that a ''legacy'', in their eyes was gone in that household was bewildering to some of us? We didn't understand the reasons? We felt & UNDERSTOOD the grief, HOWEVER!
You had a bond w/ & appreciated Evil Kneivel? You did not deserve the responses you received. Our family had a very loving & sweet dog die last month. I posted my grief. While there were a few hateful posts, (I won't post the names), 95% of them were kind & loving. ''it was just a dog, it was just a racer, it was just a...'', whatever. Grief is grief! I am sorry for the pain that you feel that he is gone. Need some support, bikepilot? You got it. You found strength in Evil Kneivel. The strength & beliefs you got from him are still there. There are some very nice people here. All of us just need to learn to ''filter'' out the negative posters & listen to the positive.

Hi tlou-

No, I'm not a biker. Had one once, long ago. Anyway, I'm just someone who admired Evel. Yeah, I know. He was a thief, troublemaker, lawbreaker, blah blah blah. I didn't admire that. I admired the guts he had.
Since I gave away my ID and am now known, I'll sign on with my initials and as nedl. Older posters know Me from when I used my real name at an earlier time. So, why hide? The cowards out there can take their shots. I don't give a rats azz about them.

Hello Friend

It might surprise some of my neighbors to know that you are one of my friends from the neighborhood and I am hoping to have some more. There are a few of us here who have posted our true identities and I am doing it so I can meet in person some of those who post here. Everyone is welcome to send me an email any time.

I once belonged to the Lions Club and had hundreds of friends and acquaintances. I do not belong to anything now and most of my friends that I knew many years ago are either dead or have moved away. So this is just my attempt to know more of my neighbors.

There are some benefits to all of this. Neighbor Kenn has offered advice to me to help me cope with some things. I have tried to be there for him when he needed support. That is the way life should be. There are lots of good people here. Get to know one another in person.

Now for your post Nedl. I could care less what he was although I would have hoped he was a better man than most say. It was his flirting with danger and death that mistified most of us. Since he risked death to entertain people, he had a right to live life the way he did. Who knows?
