Is thinking that opinion is the same as fact or evidence. On matters of fact, opinion means nothing. The question is would more die than did otherwise. Not what any group thinks.

Also, it plays on emotion and not logic. It stacks the deck and isn't designed to prove anything but a hope that emotion will rule over logic.

You are misleading

Nowhere did I state or imply that my argument was based on anything other than opinion (mine) and common sense. I have no ''facts'' to back it up. I don't need any when I'm just stating my opinion. I'm not trying to convert you to my way of thinking. I am trying to offer some additional opinions, which those who are undecided about the gun question, can now consider.
In addition, you are full of b.s. when you state there are ''universal rules of argument''. There are no such universal rules. Various people have written rules to use in arguing, but these are all different and are those person's own personal opinions. Nothing formal or universal about them.
There ARE universal and formal rules for parliamentary debate, but we are certainly not ''debating'' here in this forum. We are arguing.
Now admit that, like many times in the past, you've lost this argument.

You can't excuse it that way. You say they would think differently. One you can't know that (and no such is not common sense but a flawed assumptions) and second it wouldn't matter to the argument.

But you still avoid answering the question. I have to ask why?
