Dalbey says to voiceofmuscatine.com:''UNFORTUNATELY THEY GOT A MIXED MESSAGE FROM THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. HE SAYS THAT'S BECAUSE THE FIRE CREW THAT WAS TO INSPECT THE SIGHT ON WEDNESDAY GOT BEHIND SCHEDULE, SO HE ASSIGNED THEM TO CONDUCT THE INSPECTION ON FRIDAY WHEN THEY WERE NEXT ON DUTY.''
Dalbey tells us:''The crew that came in on Thursday was not ''qualified'' to make that decision. Now to me, shouldnt ALL fireman be qualified in the same area??
Dalbey tells voiceofmuscatine.com:'' HE WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN LATER THE THURSDAY SHIFT HAD CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION WHEN THEY WERE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD -- AND WITHOUT HIS ADVICE ABOUT WHAT TO LOOK FOR. DALBEY SAYS THAT'S WHY THEY DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE HAZARDS OF PALATES COVERED WITH PLASTIC SHEETING -- AND THEY INITIALLY TOLD THE ORGANIZERS TO GET SOME FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND FLASHLIGHTS.
Im not sure, but Im thinking if he is doing his job in training his firemen, then shouldnt he trust ALL of their decisions? I really dont care about the red, blue or green crew. To me a fireman is a fireman. All of them should be equal and trained equally. I am in no way putting down the firemen in Muscatine. I applaud what they do for us everyday and putting their lives on the line. I AM saying something about their leadership. If he cant trust their judgement....Should we?
