We teach

We teach drum and guitar lessons here at Music X Change. We have been doing teaching for 4 years at the Lincoln Center. Our Drum teacher has 36 years experience his name is Scott Haney. He has played in many bands as well.

We also have a full professional recording studio as well, so we do record your lessons from time to time so you can take it home with you for no additional charge. We charge only $15 per half hour.
I teach drums

Hello, this is Sean Dorton. I read the discussion, and if you are looking for someone for drum lessons, I would be of service. I have been teaching for about 12 years. If you want to email me I will give you my phone number and we can talk. Hopefully I will hear from you soon.

Thanks, Sean

Drum Lessons

Nenna, I'm sure that your son will do well with any of these instructors. Let me give you a little of my musical background.

I started playing the drums at age six and got my first set of drums from my grand father when I was 10 years old. I began playing in a 12 piece big band when I was 12 years old and played with them for the next four years.

I was in symphonic band, orchestra, marching band, and jazz band from grade/junior high through high school where i was seated first chair during most of this time. During my junior and senior year in high school I was asked to play with Black Hawk College Jazz and Swing band, I toured with them and earned college credits while in high school.

When I was 15 I competed in the Louie Belson Drum contest where I won the local competition and was 2nd place in the district portion of the contest.

When I was 17 I joined the Geneseo Knights drum & bugle corps and played and toured for a season.

Over the last 39 years I have played many types of music with many bands including jazz, rock, country, and alternative.

Currently I am playing in a Quad City classic rock band that has been together for the past 17 years. I am also playing with a group of Brazilian Samba/Bossa/Jazz musicians here in Muscatine.

I have always wanted to teach percussion and this year I have decided to do just that. Although I do not have the background in teaching that others do in this area I am eager to begin teaching and customize learning for every individual young musician trying not to churn out to many lessons per week and get caught in the lesson cog. It's not my full time job and I am flexible.

I plan not to take on to many students so I can give them the attention each student needs to advance and have fun playing the drums!!

By the way, my home will be a smoke free environment.

Thanks and good luck to your son and his drumming!
