Welcome to the neighborhood.  I recommend you arrive wearing a thick pair of pants so you do not become to offended by some of the commentary here.  Opinions and misunderstandings abound here.  A few refuse to listen to reason and at times give quite meaningless banter which I have learned to take with a grain of salt and laugh away.  Take this chat area for what it is and you will enjoy it, take it too much to heart and you will become quickly annoyed.  I don't post often.

All in all, enjoy and again welcome!

Hi and thank you. That is pretty much what I was told by those who suggested I/we discuss those things I am most passionate about. But I guess that thick skin might be a weak barrier at times, so I appreciate the notice and the welcome. If I may, a bit about us?

We farmed near Tipton for thirty plus years but things fell apart when the economy went bust and being retired from teaching mathematics these past eleven years left us with hard choices. The hog market killed things, along with our old bones. and well there it is. With some family in Muscatine we chose to move over the river since property taxes were so much lower. That has since taken a turn too. So we look toward the day our long nap arrives and keep winding the clock till then. What we have now is every day runs into another. I do get riled over the dumb things our government does at times and especially those who would consider the few over the many. But I have learned to be minimally vocal these days. My preassure is less affected that way. I do so enjoy cooking, gardening, grandchildren and their stories. of course a good ole joke now and then. I will heed your advice and poke about where I am best suited. Mostly farm life, math, family and the kitchen.

Thank you.

I'm happy to see what I perceive as another reasonable person joining in.

Sorry that the dream of retirement didn't turn out better.   You're not alone in that.

Your math skills may be very useful.   There a few here who either know very little of it or refuse to use what they know.
