You know, we always heard of the deportment lessons those ladies dished out and by God I have seen many who needed that kind of awakening. The worst or the best in my case, was that I got pretty good at eraser targeting. I trust you were no slacker? yet we had a whole different set of rules in my day. The britches warmer hung on the wall as did the rules that were well enforced. To be fair to the yunguns then, they were not nearly as out-of-control as they are today and we didn't blame parents like they do now a days. Besides we were all pretty much parents. Today seems to be a bad time for teachers, parents especially, and well of course the students are kinda stuck in the middle of those who understood the way children should be tought and those who really haven't a clue but seem to have the authority to tell us how to do it, no matter how pointless, silly and destructive. My granson was actually told in school that he as well as all the other students, to be sure to tell a counsellor if they feel they have been abused while punished. I was appalled when my daughter told me that. Imagine, being told in school that their partents are committing a crime by punishing their own children. They also said that they cannot soap their mouths if they curse. It's poison and illegal.
What a world. I ate soap at least twice as a lass and learned my lesson. The next time I ate soap was an accident after rinsing my hair.
What a world.
