Yes mr. mobaydave, I was one. One of those who would have led the charge to blast husein off his perch in the charge to remove him from his neighbor. But today I know better. So... Give me/us the real opportunity to have my/our all electric car and soon the oil will be for baggies and things too heavy to run on batteries. But where ever there is this black gold, there will be the American corporate faces backed by what ever force is necessary to keep it flowing. It's the only reason we did nothing to cull the horrible dictators who killed thousands and thousands all over the world where there is no oil. Those dictators were of no importance while they orchestrated their genecide and torture. But in iraq, well we had no choice they say. I actually trusted that what Mr. Cheney said about iraq being an endless quagmire and not worth the life of one US soldier, was correct after first thinking we should have done the job once there during desert storm. March 2003 hit like there was a new 9/11. Then the deaths started to mount, the global support fell apart and the lies came out. Also the OIL didn't pay for one lousy cent of the cost of all that this nation has suffered since. Every one of our young men and women who lost their lives or maimed for life have done so for corporate oil. Not to rid the earth of one bad man. We had plenty of choices and opportunity to do that long before, during, and since we               GOT HIM.          I say bring em home, mission is finally accomplished.

Mobay,

I'm not sure of all the CIA abuses you list and their details, but I do agree that they have meddled in numerous affairs where the damage far out-weighed the benefit.

In far too many cases the benefit was only for a very few and not the for general interests of the U.S.

Does R. Murdock really own 50% of national Geographic?

A 50% stake in National Geographic Channel, maybe not National Geographic itself.   It's hard to know how parent companies and all their subsidiaries and divisions are divided up.

I wish I could rewrite and actually change history sometimes. But alas, there isn't any such Eisteinian? reality. Only the theory that has dug us in and us locked in this effervescence of instability world wide and at the forefront of all this turmoil, is that black gold, mangos and bananas some time back. I wasn't all that old when we finally stopped the killing and regime change over bananas. For the better part of 40 years from the monroe doctorine to the dollar diplomacy, we were real hungry for cheap fruit too. Well that our corporate entities considered cheap and the wonderful literatures such as *War Is A Racket. So yesiree mrmobaydave, this you posted sure says alot about our interests abroad and who it's actually for. Not like the first two global big ones were.
