Tea Party vs. Nazi Party

Tea Party poster child....

Gosh, I caught the Tea Party rally report on the local news, and didn't see the guy from this picture.  In fact, the crowd was polite, mannerly, lots of middle aged and older working class folks in lawn chairs, listening to speakers, and not a wild-eyed protester to be seen.

I'm sure TP will go to his war chest of skinhead pictures and claim they were at the rally in Bettendorf. Don't underestimate his  sneaky underhanded ways.

So why is it when that the 25% wealthiest pay 86% of fed income tax and nearly 50% of US citizens pay no income tax. How does all of this add up? Exactly what IS fair? I am far from rich and not far from poor, but I hear all this bs about the rich must pay their 'fair share'. What IS their 'fair share'?  How much of what they earn should they be able to keep as their 'fair share'? See how that fair thing is like beauty - in the eye of the beholder?

Please forgive my bluntness here, but no. It, the current tax code is seriously flawed in favoe of the wealthiest. Why????Well, that's becuase as stated so many times ALREADY, there is a monsterous chasm between what rich and poor mean these days. You clearly understand that 50% pay nothing and 25% pay 86% it seems? Fine.  But why is what we don't seem to understand. It's quite simple to any mathmatician. I don't want to pay more, you nor anyone else really wants to pay more so there we have it. No one wants to pay taxes in the first place. So how do we accomplish that and make it look fair. What you do is set up a massive complex tax code that sets apart an entire sector of those Americans 10% or less, who thereby control 90% and growing, of all the money, so that they can do so and keep the majority of their wealth, even if that code allows them to pay less per capita. That's how it's done. I find it amazing that most seem to fail to understand, that having MOST of all the money begets most of all the taxes. How is that so hard to grasp? Take that 25% and give their 90% to the 50% and then see who pays the taxes. The 50% would. Go to menards and spend $5000. Pay 7% taxes, but instead suggest that because you spent $3000 more than the guy in the next isle, you should have to pay less per dollar and see how it turns out. A flat, fair, and equitable code would fix that. Those who make 30,000 a year pay the same percentasge as those making 30,000,000 a year. But to show the real difference, those making that 30,000,000 don't want that. That, as mr. buffet seems to understand        isn't fair. Case closed.

american government a republic NOT a democracy

It is important to keep in mind the difference between a Democracy and a Republic, as dissimilar forms of government. Understanding the difference is essential to comprehension of the fundamentals involved. It should be noted, in passing, that use of the word Democracy as meaning merely the popular type of government--that is, featuring genuinely free elections by the people periodically--is not helpful in discussing, as here, the difference between alternative and dissimilar forms of a popular government: a Democracy versus a Republic. This double meaning of Democracy--a popular-type government in general, as well as a specific form of popular government--needs to be made clear in any discussion, or writing, regarding this subject, for the sake of sound understanding. These two forms of government: Democracy and Republic, are not only dissimilar but antithetical, reflecting the sharp contrast between (a) The Majority Unlimited, in a Democracy, lacking any legal safeguard of the rights of The Individual and The Minority, and (b) The Majority Limited, in a Republic under a written Constitution safeguarding the rights of The Individual and The Minority. Its purpose is to control The Majority strictly, as well as all others among the people, primarily to protect The Individuals God-given, unalienable rights and therefore for the protection of the rights of The Minority, of all minorities, and the liberties of people in general. The definition of a Republic is: a constitutionally limited government of the representative type, created by a written Constitution--adopted by the people and changeable (from its original meaning) by them only by its amendment--with its powers divided between three separate Branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Here the term "the people" means, of course, the electorate.

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin.
But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."  Theodore Roosevelt

…If you think we’re being unfair here, ask yourself: How you would react to the Head of Homeland Security if he or she were a dual national with citizenship in Iran, Lebanon or Saudi Arabia? Ask yourself why you don’t feel the same about Israeli dual citizenship. Then you will understand how powerful the Israeli lobby has been in “adjusting” your acceptance of their special status.

…Unless we are Native American Indians, all Americans have their origins in some other country. Both of my parents were from England. They were proud to be “British” but they were most proud of achieving their American citizenship. Sure, we had pictures of the Queen and nick-nacks with the Union Jack on them. My mother even celebrated the traditional 4 o’clock tea time and was good at making Yorkshire Pudding. In the late 60′s my older brother served in the US Army and did his tour in Viet Nam. When it came down to “allegiance,” we were all patriotic Americans. Period.

The word “allegiance” means that we promise loyalty. It also carries with it the expectation that this loyalty will be exclusive and unrestrained. In the case of a declared war or real threat or conflict, for example, our allegiance to America should preclude any other interest, be it another country or political ideology.

When they took their oath to become American citizens, my parents had to pledge their “allegiance” exclusively to America and renounce their allegiance to “any and all foreign governments.” That included Great Britain, one of our strongest allies.

Mr. mobaydave. This is informative and scary to a degree. We always think we have a true grasp on what democracy means. But we really don't. It's a complex illusion that we are ahead of the game in this world as a democratic society. Pish posh.
