The obumbler knows that the consumers and the workers will end up paying these tax increases on the wealthy.  Of course he, nor any other dem., will ever say that.

Here is an article from about one year ago talking about the Obumbler being dead set against raising taxes during a recession:

Obama: Don’t Raise Taxes During Recession

Bruce McQuain and Stephen Hayes remind me that, just a year ago, President Obama was emphatically against raising taxes during the recession — even on the rich.

We have not proposed a tax hike for the wealthy that would take effect in the middle of a recession. Even the proposals that have come out of Congress—which by the way, were different from the proposals I put forward—still wouldn’t kick in until after the recession was over. So he’s absolutely right, the last thing you want to do is to raise taxes in the middle of a recession because that would just suck up—take more demand out of the economy and put businesses further in a hole.

Of course, while the economy is still in the toilet and unemployment is higher than Obama warned it would be if we didn’t pass his stimulus package, the recession is technically over.  But no sane politician would tout that fact.  And there’s a real chance we’re in for a double dip.

Says Hayes:

But inside the White House gates it’s still the “Summer of Recovery.”  Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told NBC’s David Gregory last month  that he does not believe we’re headed toward a double-dip recession. And  while he acknowledged that the recovery could take a while, he was  quite optimistic. “You are seeing recovery. You’re seeing private  investment expand again, job growth starting to come back.” When he was  asked specifically about raising taxes on top income earners, as is  scheduled to happen on January 1, 2011, Geithner said, “The country can  withstand that. The economy can withstand that. I think it’s good  policy.”

It was an interesting word choice: “withstand” a tax hike? So the  U.S. economy is strong enough to endure the additional constraints the  Obama administration wants to place on it in pursuit of its  redistributionist goals? This is the triumph of ideology over  economics.

The degree to which a couple percentage point increase on high earners would suck up demand from the economy is debatable.  But it’s interesting that Obama seems to have reversed course on this issue since this time last year.

Okay, just this once.

Transcripts from the Sept. 15th show.

So now Obama says there are 153 bridges out there on the verge of collapse......

Obamas speech-"There are 153 structurally deficient bridges that need to be repaired.

Shouldn't the Secretary of Transportation shut them down?  If there are 153 bridges?   Did he say here on the verge of collapse?  No.  A hundred fifty three "structurally deficient bridges" need to be repaired.

He's letting us drive over 153 bridges that could apparently fall and people could plummet to their deaths at any moment.

Well here....the Bamster says he knows of 153 bridges that could fall  down at any moment

It's his job to shut them down, not hold their repair hostage to passing his tax bill.  If he's serious, 153 bridges are structurally deficient, and rather than fix them, he's holding the repair hostage and endangering the lives of people who drive on  these bridges just so he can get his nonexistant bill passed.

Etc.

Doesn't sound a whole lot like what you heard, does it Mal?  Yet I heard it.  Heard it all the day it was broadcast.  You've moved beyond the realm of "harmlessly ignorant" into the world of "big fat liar".

Rush said the bridges were in imminent danger of collapse and about to plunge people to their deaths.

The above is what I wrote on Sept. 18 at 7:05 pm

Well, that was a good try. But Rush didn't say the bridges would collapse and people could pummet to their deaths at any moment.

That is what the Fox wrote on Sept 18 at 8:21 pm and he is wrong.   See underlines above in the transcript.

I'll revise my comment to say:

"Rush said the bridges were on the verge of collapse and people could plummet to their deaths".

It does sound a whole lot what I heard and wrote, doesn't it?

Imminent danger of collapse vs. verge of collapse.

Plunge vs. plummet.(or pummet)

Not a hell of a lot of difference.   Not enough difference for you guys to get all smug over it.

I'm glad the transcript was posted.   I was going to get it but didn't because Rush wants your name and address to get things like that and who knows what he would do to me if he had it?

But more importantly than that, shouldn't the Secretary of Transportation shut them down?  at any moment.

Well  It's his job to shut them down, not hold their repair hostage to passing his tax bill.

So the Rush asks first, "...shouldn't the Secretary of Transportation shut them down?"

And follows with "It's his (Obama's) job to shut them down...",

To clear this up, it's the state DOT's who are responsible for shutting them down and or repairing them.
