Muscatine

We don'tneed to take aim at the U.S. Senate and U.S. House when we have a City Counsil and Mayou that endorses foolish spending, and removal of some of our rights at the same time.   Now, we have a woman who is running for Mayor in order to keep the trend going.

Example:  Muscatine has a Building Department which costs tax payers hundred of Thousands of dollars each year.   We had practically NO NEW home starts in 2011, yet we retain a Plumbing Inspector, Housing Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Grass Inspector, and a Department leader who took a different name title to justify his exorbinant expense.  This entire department isn't needed, yet we spend money to keep them on City Welfair for employees.  Guess what, the State of Iowa has the same inspectors who will do the inspections at NO CHARGE to the City.  The City council chooses rto ignor.   If this isn't mismanagement what is?   BY the way all but two of the City Council call themselves Republicans, not Democrats.  Vote Republican on a non partisan council and Mayor and its a vote for fiscal mispending, and increasing your property taxes.     

I used a contractor last year for some remodeling. I called him this spring (2011) and asked if he would do some more work for me inside and also build a utility shed in my back yard. He said he could not do the work because he was contracted for two new housing starts and one new double condo unit in Muscatine this summer...and 2011 isn't even over yet.

Additionally, the State does not have any such inspectors to do the work required of cities and counties. But maybe you do on your planet.

I believe your post title also says something about losing rights....but yet you fail to address your own allegation. But you certainly have exercised the right to keep making yourself look like a moron!

The State now licenses electrical contractors, not the city, the state has electrical

  inspectors, so does the city,   the state does not have any police employed to tell people to go cut the grass, or keep clippings off the street,  how many new homes were built this yeasr so far, and does this justify the cost of full time inspectors, a building administrator, housing inspector.  I would like to havesome of my rights back. You get fined if you have a pit fire in your back yard, without getting permission from the City.

Talk about rights.

You get fined if you cut grass and allow clippings to fall on the street. You get fined if you don't cut grass.  You get fined if you burn leaves.  You get fined if you keep practically anything in your back yard.  You get fined if you pollute at all, yet the City lets GPC and MPW pollute extrodinary.   All of this takes away your rights, and it all comes from republicans who have ruled City Council for many years.

You don't read well, do you. I posted that the state does not have any such inspectors to do the required city and county inspections. That is required of the cities and counties, dingbat.

When did YOU ever have the RIGHT to throw grass clippings in the street, or burn things in your yard, or to allow nuisance weeds to take over your yard. RIGHTS must be stipulated in some form of official law/charter/ordination, etc. Then, when you loose them, you may take issue. But you have never had any right to do those things.

The city has nothing to do with industrial discharge permits. And, after any company is permitted, they have the right. Just like you when you go get your permit to burn that little fire in your backyard.

Hey...you have my permission, and it is certainly your right, to go back to your school and sue the civics/government instructor you had for failing to teach you these things; because I can't believe any adult person does not know these things!
