From what I've read, he believes there are WMDs.  He's willing to assume that from news reports , or else he has some secret link to Washington that the rest of us don't share.  But he doesn't think we ought to do anything about it militarily because there might be a few civilian casualties and because it would cost too much. 

Am I getting this right so far?

First, can we take the time to conclude they're guilty? However if we assume they are, then their intelligence service is about as dumb as dumb can get and would throw serious doubt to their ability to actually plan any attack on the United States.

However their ability to attack Israel is very legit. If we respond militarily, in a sense we'd be selling Israel out. I think our military would be off the table for now. It may be a case where the U.N. is our best option. A President once said we should walk softly and carry a big stick. That seems to be sound advice here.

But there are WMD's.  Right?

The UN is NEVER a good option. The president who said "walk softly and carry a big stick" didn't have to deal with the F*****g UN.
