There are only two reasons you would make a comment like that.
1. You are totally without the facts.
2. You are totally ignorant.
This issue is complicated, but I know I've told you the facts. Guess which one that leaves.

I hate to tell you this, but....."totally without the facts", and "ignorant" are the same thing.
