Ron Paul cannot be nominated this time around.  His best hope is the following scenerio:

Romney loses to Obumbler in the election.  The Republican party is forced to jump on the Ron Paul bandwagon for 2016 because there is evidently no hope sticking with the same operating procedure.  His son Rand Paul runs in 2016 and gets the nomination.

Because of this, his strategy will be to run as an independent after the Republican convention, thus hoping to block Romney and assure an Obumbler victory, driving Republicans to his ethos in 2016.
