Rebecca Blank

After the current Commerce Secretary took a leave of absence when what may have been a medical emergency led to a couple of car accidents (one a hit and run), President Obama named Rebecca Blank as the Acting Secretary of Commerce. Too bad she has no private sector experience. Oh wait, according to her curriculum vitae, she did work for about three years after graduating from college for a data collection company. Other than that – squat. She hails from the halls of academia and government.

But she has written a number of books, here are just a few of the titles:

• Changing Inequality
• Insufficient Funds: Savings, Assets, Credit and Banking Among Low-Income Households
• Measuring Racial Discrimination
• Is the Market Moral? A Dialogue on Religion, Economics, and Justice
• It Takes A Nation: A New Agenda for Fighting Poverty

It looks like she and President Obama are fellow travelers. Reading through her 17 page CV leads one to believe she’s more about wealth redistribution than she is wealth creation.
