WHO IS GARY JOHNSON? He is the Presidential Candidate of the Libertarian Party. He recently filed an antitrust lawsuit charging the RNC and DNC with conspiring in restraint of trade to exclude the consideration of third-party candidates in these nationally televised exchanges. Nevertheless, he was excluded from both the National Debate between the two CORPORATE Candidates Romney and Obama, and the Democracy Now Debate between third party candidates Anderson and Stein.
This in itself prompted me to dig in deeper. Is Gary Johnson someone the establishment fears? Just who is this Gary Johnson? He was the sitting governor of New Mexico, a state that covers an area larger than the entire country of Italy. His record includes vetoing 47 percent of legislation introduced throughout his first six months in office and leaving taxpayers a $1 billion surplus. If Romney's four years as governor qualify him for president, why won't Johnson's eight years as governor get him into a debate? http://huff.to/R0gpho He doesn’t have a vast campaign account, as the two major-party candidates do, but he does have Roger Stone, a veteran of Republican presidential campaigns who says he’s sick of the party and is now consulting for Johnson. Stone believes that with the rise of social media, there are ways to break through the campaign din, and he’s cooking up some “provocative” stunts that will get Johnson attention in the months ahead. http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2012/06/15/is_libertarian_gary_johnson_the_wild_card_in_fall_election_114499.html But what really distinguishes Johnson, even from Ron Paul, are his social policy positions: drug legalization to reduce domestic and international gang violence and reduce the social disruption and fiscal expense of prison, pro-immigration, anti-war, pro-choice, pro-gay marriage. Johnson is no social conservative; in fact, I take a page from the 18th-century Enlightenment book and claim that Johnson is a model of the kind of toleration that was a bedrock principle on which the United States was founded. Both parties are indistinguishable from one another. Both are keeping America broke. Both are keeping America at war. Both have trampled on the Constitution. And both are products of the same big money players that never change behind the scenes.
