Homes?
This is probably one of those questions I've been accused of not answering. It is also one that doesn't deserve an answer but I'll answer. Yes, of course dummy.

Like I've said before here quite a few times:
All I need to know is: If Israels' enemies were completely disarmed, there would be peace in the middle east. If Israel was completely disarmed, the Israelies would all be killed.
In all my daze, I didn't foresee the one where I'd have to totaly agree with you. This has becvome that day. The question faded to comment there in the end though, but seeing the point and wondering myself. AGREED.

8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.
Muslims pray facing Mecca. There are 13.5 million people in Istanbul and 96% are Muslim. If you draw a line from Istanbul to Mecca it goes almost directly through Jerusalem. These 13.5 million pray facing Jerusalem. The only ones who pray with their backs to Jerusalem are those few who live south of Jerusalem between there and Mecca. The old Synagogue in Muscatine faced north-west, towards Alaska not Palestine. But perhaps they all looked out the side windows while praying. I've never been in a synagogue where it was oriented to face Jerusalem and I've never met a Jew who considered it. |

"The old Synagogue in Muscatine faced north-west, towards Alaska not Palestine."
In the words of Ronald Reagan, "there he goes again"! The Muscatine synagogue I remember was at 617 Spring Street on the East side of the street!. I imagine, by "faced north-west" you mean the building faced north west and are referring to the front door of the building? But, as I recall, the people inside the synagogue, when praying, did not face the front door (Spring street), but rather the opposite direction (or back of the building). Even the Rabbi or Cantor did not face the front of the building when praying. Because of that they were facing what I would call ESE. If you face East South East in Muscatine, you have oriented your face in the general direction of Israel (generally the middle east), certainly not Alaska, unless you are planning on circumnavigating the globe. |
