In the interest of helping define a conservative, I offer the following.

Typical true conservative (selfish) beliefs.

If I want to build a factory. I should be able to build it across the street from your house. Zoning laws be damned.

If you want me to build in your state, I expect $600,000 to $900,000 in tax incentives per job created.

If I build in a flood plane, the government should build a dike to keep my property safe. If I build out in the country, the government has to build a road to my property suitable for whatever trucks I use. Weight limits? What weight limits?

Don’t burden me with building permits or building codes. I can build it to whatever wind loads, seismic loads, floor loads or snow loads I feel like. I’ll put in as many fire escapes and exits as I feel like. I’ll install the electrical wiring and the plumbing as I see fit.

I should be allowed to hire 4th graders at 35 cents per hour if I want to. Safe working conditions will be what I think is appropriate. If someone loses a hand or an eye, tough, they should have been more careful or bought their own safety equipment.

If the government won’t let me hire 4th graders or I can’t find any, I’ll move my operations to Bangladesh.

Whatever waste products I produce can be disposed of as I see fit. Anything down the sewers is OK. If it won’t go down the sewer, I can just leave it in a junk pile. If the air is a little hard to breath, that’s too bad. People can move or buy whatever filters or masks they feel they need. They can pay whatever medical bills might be required and if they die early, so what, we all go sometime.

The government can’t make me put ingredients labels on my product or it’s origin. And they can’t make me test it and certify it’s safe. Just trust me. A few unfortunate deaths are just too bad. The cost of doing business.

But if my employees get angry and cause a work disturbance, the government better send enough police and/or National Guard to put an end to it. And if the disgruntled workers set the building on fire, there better be a fire department there to put it out.

My tax rate should be set low because I hire people to work for me.   Or just because I want the money.

If I make a whole gob of money with this project, I should be allowed to send the money to the Cayman Islands to avoid taxes if I want to.

Don't just say lies.   Point them out.   Correct them.   Which ones do conservatives not covet?
