As for purchasing a gun legally, my CCP means that I have had a background check, have demonstrated shooting proficiency on a range under the supervision of a trained instructor, have up to date knowledge of laws, and am eligible to purchase same day.  Without the permit, the background check is required.  And yes, if you have a gun, there is a way to legally sell it to me, but a permit is required to purchase from a non-dealer.
