I'm guessing you couldn't prove he actually said this if your life depended on it.   Or does the lack of an opening quote in the latter part provide you with an escape.

General George Patton in an address to his troops before D Day:

“Many of you have in your veins German and Italian blood. But remember that these ancestors of yours so loved freedom that they gave up home and country to cross the ocean in search of liberty. The ancestors of the people we shall kill lacked the courage to make such a sacrifice and remained slaves.” — George S. Patton

This captures something I also believe.  United States citizens, generally, have a genetic "risk" and "go getter" gene that those in other countries lack.   Due to the fact that our ancestors gave up their home and families and took a huge risk and came to America in the hopes of finding the freedom and the chance to prosper and make it on their own.  Those who stayed "home" were satisfied and let their fear govern their lives.  I believe those genes still rule.   I've seen it in the countries I've worked in and here at home.
