And How Many Bullets Do You Need?

Jim  Yardley  April 21, 2013

Last  night, I watched the amateur home video  of the shootout between Boston and Watertown police and the person referred to  as "Suspect #1."

I  learned that there were something on the order of 200 shots fired during that  firefight.

Think  about that for just a moment.  It took a dozen or more cops, who are  trained professionals, who practice on at  least a weekly basis with their firearms, to fire 200 rounds before he finally  died.

Yet  our politicians (at least here in New York, and some in Washington -- as well as  other places, I'm sure) are saying that the most anyone needs to have  to protect himself from armed intruders is seven rounds in the  magazine.

Only  seven?!

Of  course, it took trained police, who were not dealing with an unexpected attack,  who were not roused from a peaceful slumber, who were not worried about their  wives and kids, some 200 rounds to kill one dangerous man.

Makes  you wonder if those politicians have even the slightest, tiniest hint of  anything connected with the real world,  doesn't it?

1.  What are you trying to say?   That it does take more than 7 rounds (from a 7 round magazine) to stop criminals?

2.  Or, that the Aurora nutcase needed 200 shots at him before he was stopped? (Obviously untrue.  No shots were fired at him.  No one had the opportunity as firearms were not allowed in that theatre.)

3.  Or, that, because 200 rounds were used in Boston,  Boston police are not up to snuff re: handling of firearms?

I believe the point of my original post was just that often more than 7 rounds is needed to stop dangerous criminals, and because of that, restrictions on magazine capacities is an ignorant idea.   You really do need to stop your running around in circles.

"How do you reconcile this with a post some time back that claimed one guy, I believe it might have been you, could have taken out the guy in Aurora with one shot from his hand gun even though the attacker was in full body armor?"

Might have been me????   Wasn't me!

In fact I can't remember any such claim, posted in this forum.

I don't make public claims about my gun handling expertise.  I was brought up not to brag or show off.   I believe such behavior to be repugnant.   You obviously are "jumping to conclusions" again.  tsk tsk (shaking head)!   Why don't you get off your butt and research this stuff  before you post it and embarrass yourself?

What conclusion have I jumped to?   What's to research?   It makes no difference which of you boys made the claim.   You surely remember the claim.

Just assume it was anybody.   How do you reconcile a claim that one guy with a hand gun could have stopped the Aurora shooter when the police needed 200 bullets.    Enlighten us.

What's to be embarrassed about?   I can't keep track of all you boys.   That's why I said "might have been".   You all sound like the same guy any way and maybe you are.   I'm not going to waste my time finding the post to identify which of you made the absurd claim.

So, it seems that sentence structure has quite a bit to do with the meaning of this.  I might suggest a refresher course in English, grammar, and common sense.

So mallcondavie did lie in trying to use the 200 rounds about Aurora! Any lie for any agenda!
